Crits will be on friday 23.10.09 starting at 10. Timetable PDF. Please come watch, support & contribute to the rest of the group’s crits.

There is no requirements as to presentation material.  Consider what is important for your critics to understand interms of process/development and the completed design.

It is always good to gather up all your working drawings / documents / sketches / models developed over the semester, package them up nicely and submit as side material to your final hand in.

It would be good to write up a page of the key points which outline your development as well as the resulting design. (even if the morning of crits). This is useful to remind Dan and I of the key aspects as well as help you organise in your own mind what is important to discuss during your presentation.

Olivia and Dariya … this looks like your kinda thing.

The intention with these crits is that each student will present a “snapshot” of their project as it currently stands, and receive some thoughts from the tutors – this is not an in-depth crit session.

Each student has six minutes; three minutes to present and three minutes for comments from the tutors.  You will present electronically via Powerpoint or full-screen PDFs. Each bay will be provided with a projector and computer.

This is a Rapid Fire Crit – focus on your key ideas and communicate succinctly.

You will recall Mike Hartley asking for the 1 sentence statement summarising your project.  And Dan Bosher talked about your “elevator pitch”.  This is a great opportunity to get ideas from other critics.  Just the key points.  Saying less = more feedback.

Consider your visual presentation as well.  Consider what can reasonably be fit into tiny projector screen resolution (1024X768px).  Craft it well and with care.  Ideally it should describe your project without needing to verbally tell your critics what its about.

Make sure you have well formulated questions (ie propositions or well defined issues) that our engineers can address so that you get the most of the discussion.
